Craig Armstrong - piano works Press Release
Craig Armstrong is one of the world’s most compelling composers and recording artistes. He’s the man behind a string of award winning film scores, which include Baz Luhrmann’s Moulin Rouge and Romeo & Juliet and he has worked with some of the biggest names in music – notable collaborations include Madonna, U2 and Massive Attack to name a few. He has also released two sublime and critically acclaimed albums, “The Space Between Us” and “As If To Nothing”.
Craig’s latest solo release is entitled “Piano Works”. The album is an exquisite collection of piano pieces, recorded last year in Paris, a city Craig regards as his artistic muse It’s a collection of original works, including piano versions of “Satine’s Theme” from Moulin Rouge, “Morning Breaks” from Romeo & Juliet and “Glasgow Love Theme” from Love Actually, as well as much loved Massive Attack tracks and piano arrangements from his two solo albums.
All the tracks are performed by Craig Armstrong, who says of the album “It was a very interesting experience to record these compositions as the piano has always been a very personal form of musical expression for me. It was important for me to involve an electronic element within the album to place the record in the twenty first century, not as a reverie in the past but a piece of work that looks forward. It was amazing to work with the artists involved in the recording and the electronics through Paris, Berlin and the UK”
The initial album release on 28th May on Hangman Records will be very limited. Beautifully packaged with each copy individually numbered, this is set to be the most collectable album of 2004.
“Piano Works” will then have a full commercial release through Sanctuary records on 5th July 2004.
